Purple Martin Conservation Association
A nonprofit organization devoted exclusively to the scientific study of Purple Martins, their biology and habitat requirements. The website includes much practical information as well as historical and research topics, an ongoing forum and a marketplace for Purple Martin housing, accessories and other products.
Annual membership fees are $20.00 Student/Senior, $25.00 Basic, and $30.00 Family. Members receive a quarterly magazine, “The Purple Martin Update.
The “Martin Market Place Catalog” is free for the asking and is full of Purple Martin products and information.
The Purple Martin Society, North America
An active Purple Martin landlord society that quickly evolved from a regional to a national organization. In addition to Purple Martin information and products, the internet site offers Roundtable Conferences exchanging information about Purple Martins well as Bluebirds and general birding.
The Nature Society
This organization is connected to Erva Tool & Mfg. Co, the manufacturer of Trio and Duracraft aluminum Purple Martin houses. The website has useful information about Purple Martins and offers instructions for building and modifying Martin equipment.
Annual membership in the Nature Society is $27.00. Members receive monthly the “Nature Society News,” a tabloid format newspaper devoted primarily to Purple Martins but also including articles about other birds and wildlife as well as letters from readers. This is the oldest purple martin publication in existence and a very interesting paper for avid landlords and novices.
Manitoba Purple Martin Club
This is the oldest known Purple Martin club in existence, having been founded in February, 1980. The club has erected towers in Gimli, Boissevain, Deloraine, Neepawa and the Fort Whyte Nature Center. The club has also donated more than 60 houses at seniors’ homes throughout Manitoba and hosts displays at local malls.
Membership is $10.00 annually per family and members receive four newsletters per year.
