I am from Illinois and we usually winter in south Texas....this year we are here at Riverbend Motorcoach Resort. We are seeing a good number of martins early mornings and then some later on toward evenings. We will head north to Illinois just in time to get my houses opened up. Thanks for having this website! Taking gourds down after each nesting season and cleaning them and storing them indoors can more than double the life of the gourds before the "pitting" occurs. We don't know of anyone who is selling used gourds at this time. From time to time, we do have people contact us who want to sell or donate Martin houses or gourds and we will post that information. In the meantime, current members of the Purple Martin Society of Collier County (PMSCC) have been able to purchase gourds in bulk at a reduced price when several members are interested.
